Dragons, fireworks, lanterns, music, traditional clothing, Chinese New Year is one of the most significant and auspicious day of the year and no matter wherever you go, you will see people laughing, celebrating and embracing their culture and tradition. It is also worldwide famous as spring festival. This festival is the longest festival in the Chinese Calendar. The celebration starts from Chinese New Year’s eve and lasts till the Lantern Festival, which celebrated on the 15th day of the first month.

Well, I am pretty sure that all of you must have heard of the famous carnival, The Rio de Janeiro Carnival of Brazil. This is the biggest Carnival in the world with 2 million people come out on the street on each day of the carnival. This is the oldest carnival of Rio and started back in the year, 1823. The center of attraction of this carnival is Sambódromo parade, when samba groups compete with each other to get the title of best, “Samba School”. The Carnival begins at the start of February. You should definitely visit Rio to be a part of this carnival at least once before you die, you will surely have some gala time there.

The best thing about the carnival is that it is 900 years old and started back in 1162. Might sound crazy to all of you but this carnival provides the freedom  to everybody to do anything without any bounds and guilt, thanks to masks nobody can recognize you. It is the most colorful carnival in the world, due to which many theatrical troupes also participate in the festival. This carnival takes you to the completely new world, mostly to the land of fairy tales.

This festival is one of my favorite festivals all over the world. The serenity and beauty of this festival will definitely leave you spell-bounded. Every year, a large number of tourist visit Taiwan to become a part of this enchanting Lantern Festival. The sight of so many lanterns flying in the sky will surely take your breath away. Originally, the festival was started to inform others that the town is safe by releasing the lanterns in the sky. People in Taiwan decorate these lanterns with great affection and put images of the owner and family members on the lamp and release the lanterns after making a wish. This wonderful tradition of releasing lanterns in the sky makes this place totally worth to visit it once in your lifetime.

White Nights Festival- St. Petersburg, Russia

If you are an art, music and culture lover, then this festival is surely for you. People in Russia celebrate the White Night Festival in the Season of the midnight Sun. It is basically an International Art festival, which includes  Opera, Music performances, and Classical Ballet. Not only this, you can also enjoy performances by Russian Dancers and Singers, hundreds of international guest stars, and from musicians all over the world. Day of the dead is the very interesting way of celebrating Mexican Holiday in the entire Mexico. The purpose of celebrating the Mexican holiday is to pray for the dead members of the family and friends and to remember them in the form of celebration. This festival is generally celebrated at the time of the bank holiday. On this day, people honored the deceased with sugar skulls, by gifting them their favorite foods and beverages. They also build Ofrendas and visit them on their graves with these gifts. Well, that’s nice !!

Running of the Bulls- Pamplona, Spain

I know this festival totally looks crazy, but, yes, people are actually celebrating this festival from centuries. Every year large number of men participate in the most popular San Fermin festival in Spain and runs along with dozen of bulls. The organizers use rockets to indicate the beginning of the race; First Rocket indicates the runners that corral gates are now open. Second Rockets indicate that all the bulls are released and the third and fourth rockets are the signals that indicate that all the bulls have entered the bullring which shows the end of the race. But that’s not all, around 300-400 people get injured in this event. Hats off to all those who participate as it really need some courage.

Every year, thousands of people took part in the gay festival celebrated annually in the heart of Amsterdam in the first weekend of August.  The center of attraction of the festival is the canal parade, in which activist and gay people can be seen on decorated boats in the canal.
