“They’re just more trouble than they’re worth.”

Most of the women live their life waiting for that perfect guy who can sweep them off  their feet, who can make them complete and can stand by their side in times of sorrows and happiness. But according to a 109 year old, Jessie Gallan that’s not what all women should look for in their life. Gallan turned 109 a few days back this month and trust me she lived her life beautifully and is an inspiration for many of us.

“I never had to depend on anyone,” said the independent lady, who left her home at the tender age of 13 to work as a milkmaid. “I always worked hard and seldom would I ever take a holiday,” she added.

Now the self reliant Gallan lives in Scotland nursing home and still involve herself in many activities like she spent time with her close friends, visits church and other events, practice group exercises and is a heart of the nursing home. Even the caregiver at the nursing home says she is a remarkable woman.

So if you are wondering what is her secret of long and happy life, then Gallen in an interview to Daily life revealed that “My secret to a long life has been staying away from men. They’re just more trouble than they’re worth.” She also added that, eating a bowl of porridge regularly has helped her reach her ripe age.

Update: Three months after revealing the secret of her long life, Gallan died in March 2015 at the Crosby House Care Home in Aberdeen, Scotland. But we are sure that people will always remember her for the spunk and liveliness.
